About BestYEGHomes
Why This Site Exists
Real estate is how most Canadians build wealth. The guidance available online doesn't reflect how important that decision is. We built this to fix that — starting with Edmonton.
The Foundation
Real estate is the single largest wealth-building vehicle most Canadians will ever use. Statistics Canada puts the median net worth of homeowner families at $685,400 — versus $40,000 for renters. That's a 17:1 gap. And unlike a stock portfolio, you can live in your investment.
Most of the guidance available online doesn't treat this decision with the seriousness it deserves. Generic national advice. Anonymous forum opinions. Thin marketing copy. We built BestYEGHomes because Edmonton deserves better than that — honest, data-driven guidance from someone who actually lives here and invests here.
Helping someone navigate real estate well isn't a transaction. It's one of the most consequential things you can do for another person's life trajectory. That's the conviction behind every page on this site.
Who's Behind the Data
Christopher Peel
Associate / REALTOR® · MaxWell Polaris · Edmonton
I came to Edmonton from Vancouver in 2002 for the University of Alberta. I stayed because this city rewards people who pay attention — affordable entry points, real economic fundamentals, and a quality of life that bigger markets can't match at the same price.
I've been buying and investing in Alberta real estate since 2006 — nearly 20 years of learning what actually works in this market. Before getting licensed, I spent over 12 years in B2B sales, management, and negotiation. I got my REALTOR® license not to start a new career, but to go deeper into an industry I was already invested in.
BestYEGHomes is the resource I wished existed when I started. Honest, data-driven, specific to Edmonton — built by someone who lives here, invests here, and works here every day.

How We Build This
Every number on this site comes from a primary source. Every page is built around questions real people are actually asking. And everything is updated monthly when new data is released.
Market Data
MLS® System Statistics
Sales, prices, inventory, and days on market from the REALTORS® Association of Edmonton. Published monthly. This is the same data the industry uses — we just make it accessible and add context.
National Context
CREA & Bank of Canada
National benchmark prices and cross-market comparisons from the Canadian Real Estate Association. Interest rate data from the Bank of Canada. Edmonton doesn't exist in isolation — context matters.
City Intelligence
City of Edmonton Open Data
Property assessments, development permits, neighbourhood demographics, and infrastructure data direct from the City. 354,000+ individual property records power our neighbourhood profiles and tax tools.
Demographics
Statistics Canada
Census data, population growth, migration patterns, employment figures, and economic indicators. Understanding who's moving to Edmonton and why is essential to understanding where the market is heading.
Process
Monthly Update Cycle
When new RAE data is released each month, we update every market page, area comparison, and neighbourhood profile. Data currently reflects March 2026. You're never looking at stale numbers.
Quality
Every Claim Is Sourced
If we cite a number, you can trace it back to a primary source. Data is deemed reliable but not guaranteed by the RAE. We don't editorialize statistics — we add context so you can make your own decision.
Our Standards
Most real estate content online is thin marketing copy, generic national advice, or anonymous opinions. We hold ourselves to a different standard — not because it's a differentiator, but because the decision deserves it.
Honest assessments. Every neighbourhood profile includes real tradeoffs — not just the highlights. Someone making a $500,000 decision needs clarity, not cheerleading.
Best professionals, not most profitable. When we recommend a mortgage broker, a home inspector, or a lawyer, the criterion is simple: who is the best at what they do. Not who pays the highest referral fee. That distinction matters.
One side at a time. When we work for a buyer, we maximize that buyer's outcome. When we work for a seller, we go 100% for them. Full commitment, one direction. That's how trust is built and how efficient markets work.
Data serves decisions. A statistic without context is noise. Every number on this site answers “so what?” — what does this mean for someone actually buying or selling in Edmonton right now?
